Laddertop: a brief anatomy of a panel
Between bouts of psychotic depression and illogical paranoia, there are those rare happy moments when I suffer from the destructive delusion that I have too much time on my hands. Today is one of those times, thus I happily ignored sleep and did something remarkably unproductive — color a panel from a black and white book.
I’ve had always wondered what Laddertop would look like if they had agreed to let me color it. Prior to getting picked up to do Laddertop, it had been about 3 years since I did a black and white comic. In those 3 years, I did a bunch of comic commissions as well as my webcomic By Moon Alone in full color. So when I started doing Laddertop, working in black and white again took a bit of getting used to. My brain was still wired into thinking in colors.
This colored version of a panel won’t be appearing in the book and it’s even highly doubtful that anyone who has actually read Laddertop would be seeing this version as well. But at least I’ve gotten that nagging curiosity out of the way.
